CHECK ME OUT

The European Praying Mantis is Connecticut's official insect. It is native to Portugal. The name comes from the appearance of the prayerful position it assumes. Hardly holy, the preditory insect in captivity is commonly a cannibal. Yet, it does eliminate garden pests like beetles, but will eat helpful garden insects too. It camouflages as a means of self protection. Look deep into my big, green and flirty eyes. Tall, green and handsome ? Nice view from behind !

Hie Brad,
We have something equally sinister called the mantis shrimp (Lysiosquilla sp.) that will either stab or smash its victims. However, it's also a tasty seafood. I love them buttered or chillied or black-peppered equally. Yummmm...purrrr *giggles*

Annie,

Right on the spot,
I have a fascination for insects .

If only the species could collaborate more and we'd have fewer weeds and more Garden Helpers.

Thanks Jenny,
No, I didn't know that some of Kung Fu is adopted from the praying Mantis. That is interesting.
Happy Sunday to you & family, Jenny,
